North East salon celebrates 20 years in business, raffles gifts to clients

Stephanie Dowd, a longtime hairstylist, is committed to quality customer service at Bella Salon and Day Spa, 41 W. Main St., North East.

Customers will keep up with the newest hairstyle trends and experience excellent customer service at North East’s Bella Salon and Day Spa.

Bella Salon and Day Spa, 41 W. Main St., North East, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. To honor the milestone, business staff held a basket raffle last week for their clients.

Stephanie Dowd, owner of the business, has been a hair stylist since the business’ inception.

“I always wanted to be a hairstylist. It’s been in my family for many years,” Dowd said.

The winner of the basket raffle, which was announced on Tuesday, Nov. 1, received a variety of hair-care products, memorabilia from the salon and a $100 gift certificate to Bella Salon.

“We made 20th anniversary T-shirts and cups. Those were included in the basket,” Dowd said.

Cheryl Phillips and Darlene Youngs founded the business in 2002. Dowd worked under the pair for five years before establishing a partnership.

“I worked alongside them until 2019, at which point I purchased the rest of the business,” Dowd said.

While Youngs has retired, Phillips continues to work at the salon.

“We’re still going strong,” Dowd said.

The salon offers a number of hair care services, including haircuts, extensions, coloring and perms. This is in addition to a number of other self-care services, such as manicures, pedicures, facials, waxing, massage and eyelash extensions.

“My team works hard hours, and they are dedicated to their job,” Dowd said.

Customers may purchase any of the products used during the service.

“My team is always keeping up with the latest trends,” Dowd said.

The success of the business, Dowd said, can be attributed to its skillful stylists and superb customer service.

“I feel like 20 years is a big accomplishment,” she said.

The tenured stylist went on to say education plays a vital role within the industry.

“We hold classes on a variety of topics, like color trends,” Dowd said.

Dowd is grateful to the community for its continued support.

“We’ve had many customers who continue to come to us, even through the pandemic. I’m just thankful for the support from North East as a community,” Dowd said.

She holds high ambitions for the future of the business.

“I want to keep it going the way Cheryl and Darlene would want it to go … as well as my own touch,” Dowd said.

Customers interested in utilizing Bella Salon and Day Spa’s services should call the business at 814-725-6767, or email Stephanie Dowd at bella6767@neohio.twcbc.com to schedule an appointment.
